Praised for its "astonishingly vital music making" (LA Times) and "irresistable, deeply expressive playing" (Grammophone), the internationally-acclaimed ensemble REBEL's core formation of recorder/ traverso, two violins, cello/ viola da gamba & harpsichord/ organ performs baroque, rococco, & classical repertoire, expanding with additional strings, brass, theorbo and vocalists as needed. REBEL (pronounced'Re-BEL and named after French baroque composer Jean-Féry Rebel) was originally formed in The Netherlands in 1991. 1st prize, van Wassanaer International Competition for Ensembles in Early Music 1991; ensemble-in-residence, National Public Radio, 1999; REBEL Baroque Orchestra residency at Trinity Church Wall Street, NYC 1997-2009. Recordings: Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, Dorian, ATMA, Hänssler, Bridge, Naxos, Sono Luminus.
