"Italian Vernacular Music from 1200 to 1700"

Take a historical romp through this unusual workshop day presented by SFEMS. In two sessions (from Noon to 3:00 and from 4:00 to 7:00), we will explore monophonic laude, istanpittas and trecento polyphony. From there we will move into 15th c. canti carnascialeschi, frottole, polyphonic laude and ballo tunes; 16th c. madrigals, villanesca, villanella and villota; ricercare canzone, sonatas and of course, dance music! The session will conclude with Baroque the madrigal comedy, opera choruses and Vivaldi. Sackbuts, dulcians, flutes, lutes and harps also very welcome and encouraged!

As in previous years, Tom is not taking a penny for this presentation: all proceeds go toward the SFEMS Medieval & Renaissance Summer Workshop scholarship fund to help pay the tuition of participants who could not otherwise afford to attend.
