The ARS Redding Chapter hosted its first annual "Recorder Fest," September 1-3, 2011 in Redding, California. ARS Redding members were joined by guests, Dave (recorder) and Alicia Abell (harpsichord), from Arcata. (Kay and Dave attended the SFEMS Baroque Workshop in June 2011.)

The Fest comprised three days of intensive playing, starting with a rehearsal on Thursday before Labor Day weekend. Friday and Saturday had two rehearsals each, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Friday afternoon was an informal "Showcase" performance by various ensembles. Music covered a broad spectrum--from folk literature, to Renaissance accompanied song, and Elizabethan consort dances, to French and German Baroque repertoire. Hospitality for lunch and dinner by ARS Redding members rounded out the event. A truly memorable musical weekend!
