The Recorder Fest involves members of the ARS Redding Chapter, who welcome the participation of out-of-town guests for three days of memorable music-making! Guests must arrange their own lodging. However, ARS Redding members offer several hosted meals together.
The Fest begins just before Labor Day weekend: Thurday evening through Saturday afternoon. There are five playing sessions in all, each two hours in length. 2011 was the first Fest, which included recorder, voice, and digital keyboard (as harpsichord, pipe organ, piano, and harp). Recorder, oboe, bassoon, viols, harpsichord, voice--all welcome. There is an informal performance on Friday evening. This event is an opportunity to play two to six-part chamber music of various periods (Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque) and styles (classical and folk). Kay serves as coach for each of the playing sessions.
