In conjunction with a major art exhibit on Michelangelo at Syracuse University, we will present music that he may have heard either in Florence or in Rome and music representative of the religious events in his lifetime: Carnival songs and laude by Lorenzo de Medici and Savonarola, Heinrich Isaac's sacred and secular works from his Florence years,Josquin des Pres and the papal chapel choir, Music of the Protestant Reformation: Johann Walter, Music of the Catholic Reformation: Palestrina
