Lyra Baroque Orchestra, Jacques Ogg, Artistic Director The Brandenburg Concerti: I, III & VI
Guests: Marc Destrubé, violin & Debra Nagy, oboe The Lyra Baroque Orchestra is giving audiences a rare holiday treat this December: the opportunity to hear three of the Brandenburg Concertos performed on original instruments from the time of Bach. The historic-instrument ensemble, led by Dutch harpsichordist Jacques Ogg, performed half of the six concertos two seasons ago; now they’re completing the cycle with numbers one, three, and six, featuring guest artists Marc Destrubé on baroque violin and Debra Nagy on baroque oboe. Audiences can learn more about the history of the baroque oboe at a masterclass given by Debra Nagy Thursday, December 8 at 7 p.m. in the Baroque Room in St. Paul.  Students are free; adults $10.
