    • The Institute for 17th Century Music at Queens College will offer a one-week, intensive training program in Baroque opera. The week’s work will culminate in a performance of highlights from Claudio Monteverdi’s late masterwork, L’Incoronazione di Poppea (Venice, 1643) directed by Drew Minter, countertenor and specialist in 17th and 18th century opera.
    Other offerings include:
  • Baroque gesture, and a physical approach to theatre called Viewpoints, adapted for use in opera and taught by Drew Minter
  • Baroque vocal ornamentation and vocal style based on 16th and 17th century sources, with Julianne Baird
  • The Baroque string program will include the study of Baroque repertoire, period ornamentation, and lessons with Daniel Lee
  • Improvisation in accompaniment for players of basso continuo with Arthur Haas, Pat O'Brien and Christa Patton
  • Daily coachings and masterclasses
