Personal Summary / Bio
Craig Resta holds degrees from the University of Maryland College Park, Indiana University, and Baylor University. As a strings specialist, his teachers include Kevin Lawrence, Stanley Ritchie, and Davis Brooks. He has pursued performance practice studies with Wendy Gillespie, Thomas Binkley, and Harry Elzinga. Early music festival appearances have been at Round Top, Berkeley, Boston, Bloomington, and Washington DC, with other concerts in Texas, Indiana, Ohio, California, Georgia, Tennessee, Washington DC, Massachusetts, and Virginia. He has further performed medieval, baroque, and modern programs abroad in Switzerland, Germany, and China. In addition to his work with the medieval ensemble Armonia Nova, he is a founding member of BERNARDUS, a group specializing in the presentation of medieval music, literature, and culture. Also a string pedagogue, Dr. Resta is currently Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music Education at Kent State University in Ohio. His academic endeavors focus on undergraduate and graduate courses in string and instrumental pedagogy, pre-service music teacher education, inquiry and research, and music education foundational studies.
