Personal Summary / Bio
Founded in October 2011 by director Gonçalo Lourenço and violinists James Andrewes and Maria Romero, Exordium seeks to explore the rich ensemble repertoire of the Baroque era while promoting performance opportunities for aspiring early music professionals. The ensemble takes its name from the introduction to a rhetorical argument; the crucial moment in which an orator ensnares his audience through clarity and persuasion. Thus, in addition to drawing on the benefits of an historically inspired approach to music, the musicians of Exordium aim ultimately to captivate their listeners with performances of immediacy, passion and conviction.
