Mariani, Angela

Personal Summary / Bio

I’m a performer of medieval music, Associate Prof. of Musicology / Early Music Ensemble Director at Texas Tech University, and the host of the syndicated early music radio program Harmonia. I began my musical career as a rock and folk performer in the New England area (I’m from Massachusetts), but “migrated” out to Bloomington, Indiana back in the late 80’s to study at IU with Tom Binkley and the faculty of the Early Music Institute. It was there that Altramar medieval music ensemble was founded. While working at IU’s public radio station, WFIU, I started the early music radio program Harmonia, which was syndicated in 1995 and is still going strong (harmonia.indiana.edu). In 2000, Chris and I migrated again, this time to Texas Tech University, where we both teach in the Musicology department and I direct the TTU Early Music Ensemble.
