Personal Summary / Bio
The Early Interval has been performing the music of medieval and Renaissance Europe vocally and instrumentally since 1977. The ensemble has performed on concert series and at festivals throughout Ohio and occasionally beyond. Since 1980 it has served as the resident ensemble for Capital University's Early Music in Columbus concert series. Under the direction of Ron Cook, the group has not only presented numerous concerts and lecture/demonstrations, but has engaged in a variety of unique collaborations with theater companies, choral ensembles, dance troupes, professional readers and contemporary composers. The ensemble has also produced a series of original concert/dramas in an effort to place the performance of early music in some of the historical context in which the music was first presented. Critics from The Columbus Dispatch have called the ensemble "musically solid . . . wonderfully expressive" and written: "It is hard to single out specific pieces and performances for praise since virtually everything was distinguished by skill, musicality and the apparent and infectious pleasure of the performers."
