Personal Summary / Bio

Alta has been performing in Connecticut since 1983, when it originally formed as La Primavera Consort. The verstale musicians of Alta specialize in the performance of wind music of the renaissance on period instruments including shawm, sackbut, recorder, curtal, flute, crumhorn and percussion. Alta derives its name from "alta cappella," the standard fifteenth century instrumental group consisting of two shawms and a sackbut. Previous Alta concerts include Music of the Spanish Renaissance, Into the Light, Chanson Rustique, Music of Henry VIII, and Odhecaton: 500 Years of Music Publishing celebrating the 500th anniversary of the first published book of polyphonic music. After many years of a great relationship with Trinity Episcopal Church, Alta is proud to be in its second year as Artists-In-Residence.
