Personal Summary / Bio
An avid collector and performer of lute songs, Garald Farnham has brought Renaissance music to New York audiences through his not-for-profit, Merry Minstrels, Inc. for over 20 years.
In the summer of 2007, Garald founded a new ensemble, GOOD PENNYWORTHS. This lively quartet of singers brings their own brand of sly humor to a far-ranging repertoire of secular lute songs and bawdy ballads by Dowland, Campion, Morley, Rosseter and others. In June 2008, Good Pennyworths will perform as part of Early Music in Columbus's Summer Concert Mini-Series and LSA's Lute Festival 2008 in Cleveland. They will also present a concert in Pittsburgh in association with the Renaissance & Baroque Society of Pittsburgh.
Garald studied lute with reknowned lutenist Patrick O'Brien and holds a degree in Music from Capitol University Conservatory of Music. He is the Treasurer of the Lute Society of America.
